Extra Virgin Olive oils
We currently stock award winning, extra virgin olive oils from three different Croatian producers. All these olive oils have been specifically selected for their unique taste and absolute superior quality.
Our range of extra virgin olive oils from Istria are single-sort and cold pressed within 8 and 24 hours of the fruit being picked; there is a range of unique flavours, and each oil comes with its own specific recommendation of which food it will enhance the most. The flavours are varied, from grassy and herby to fruity or with a hint of spice. All of our oils have extremely low levels of free fatty acids, with a maximum of around 0.2% (extra virgin category allows a maximum of 0.8%). The editor of the olive oil industry 'bible' L'Extravergine Marco Oreggia said that Croatian olive oil is of ''Superior quality''.
Olives are hand picked and processed with state-of-the-art agricultural machinery and production technology (cold processing procedure directly from the olive fruit within 8 hours). The oil thus gained boasts a free fatty acids share of 0.08% to 0.2% and is rich in nutritionally valuable elements and aromatic notes. Agrolaguna's organic olive oil production is organised, registered and supervised with products being recorded and certified by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery and Rural Development. Organic olive oil is a product gained exclusively from the olive fruit grown in an environmentally friendly way and meets all conditions stipulated by the law.
Agrolaguna's olive oil won 7 gold, 11 silver and 2 bronze medals at important competitions throughout Europe during 2009 (Olio Capitale Trieste, Olive days in Zadar etc). Two awards are of particular importance; the honorary prize for oil with the best chemical composition won at the Armonia Competition in Italy and the Gold medal for the best extra virgin olive oil from Croatia at the AIPO competition in Italy.
